Starting school is an important time in the lives of many children and their families. As a subscriber to ECA Webwatch (great resource!!!), I came across this useful policy brief on Transition to school. For many of us in the CEO Sydney system of schools, we have already begun our preparations for students starting school in Kindergarten, 2009. It is critical as educators, that we ensure the transition process is a smooth and positive one.

Essentially, we must make sure we are ready for the children coming into our care, and that the focus is on developing supportive relationships and providing a sound foundation for learning. Can I suggest that worksheets be ditched and instead, a variety real learning experiences be provided?
